We are approaching the end of the second Rosary Novena Crusade.

While, as Englishmen, we give thanks to God that our country has so far been preserved from passports and mandates, we cannot ignore that many other countries are falling into the darkness, and that clouds are also gathering here. 

Because of this, we are reluctant to abandon fifteen decades a day, due to the evident power of the Rosary.

But despite the significant effort that fifteen decades represents, we will immediately be beginning a third crusade at the end of this one, starting on the 30th November. We urge all readers to join the Telegram group here for daily updates.

At this stage, let us call to mind again the story of Moses, and the Israelite’s battle against the Amalekites. While Moses lifted his arms in prayer, his people prevailed – and when he lowered them, the enemy prevailed. With the support of Aaron and Hur, he kept his hands aloft until the victory was theirs. 

Some of us may be tired of saying fifteen decades. But it really seems that we must keep our hands aloft in prayer if we want to win the day.

A New Element: The Holy Face

In a series of revelations, approved by the Church in the persons of several popes, our Lord said the following things: 

• The crimes of blasphemy, atheism and profanation of Holy Days are provoking God to punish mankind.
• This worldwide blasphemy would be punished in a worldwide manner, namely through “the malice of revolutionary men” and particularly Communism.
• Christ our Lord wishes that reparation be made for blasphemy.
• His Holy Face is to be the exterior object of adoration for the “work of reparation.”
• These evils can be averted, by this reparation to the Holy Face.

So Christ our Lord, in private revelations approved by several popes, warned us that these current events were approaching: he told us why they would happen, and gave us the means to end them. Let us pay attention.

Multiplying devotions

We want to incorporate the Holy Face into our crusade of prayer. But we do not want to multiply devotions and create an unbearable burden, especially for those already saying fifteen decades. As such, we want to integrate this into the Crusade in as simple and streamlined a way as possible.

Given that our Lord has told us that the cause of our problems is blasphemy, and that the solution is reparation to the Holy Face, it seems sensible to make this the intention of the third crusade.

And while the intention will be “Reparation to the Holy Face for the sins of blasphemy,” this intention is certainly ordered towards the parlous state of the world at this time. We are not taking our focus away from the dreadful global revolution taking place around us: we are, rather, using the means commended by Christ to address these things.

What of the confraternity?

There was an Arch-confraternity of the Holy Face, which was established by Leo XIII. It had minimal duties for members. The daily duty was to say one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be in reparation for blasphemy, along with the short “Golden Arrow” prayer:

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and unutterable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in heaven, on earth, and under the earth by all the creatures of God and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.

It seems logical that we just incorporate this into our Rosaries, especially as this is the intention of the Novena. Perhaps we could consciously offer the introductory prayers of the Rosary for this intention, and the Golden Arrow Prayer could be said before or after the Rosary, or at any other time.

Additionally, the old Arch-confraternity of the Holy Face had a short cycle of prayers for Sundays, which take about 10 minutes to say. We do not want to make this a “mandatory” part of the Crusade – but they are surely to be recommended. Please look at the content of these prayers: they are quite unique, casting the whole work of reparation in terms of battle against God’s enemies.

Deus vult – God wills it

We acknowledge that fifteen decades this is a serious effort. But as the question goes: Do we want to avoid the Gulag or not?

We encourage all our readers and subscribers to continue in prayer, to read these articles on the Holy Face, and perhaps to even begin incorporating the devotion today. We must offer prayers and penances and alms to survive the times ahead.
